Lucas Broten, Ph.D.

I grew up in Reno and I am very excited to be providing excellent care to our local community. I graduated from the University of Nevada with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After working with at risk youth locally I pursued my Master’s and Doctoral Degree at Western Michigan University. My master’s thesis was focused on school-based interventions, and my Doctoral thesis was focused on treatment in a hospital-based settings.

From there I moved to Omaha, Nebraska to work with the world renown Boys Town where I focused on assessment and treatment of youth with significant behavioral concerns in a unique residential treatment setting. I was awarded a position as a post-doctoral fellow and helped establish the adult outpatient services program while serving as one of the primary trainers for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for staff and trainees.

I was afforded the opportunity to return to Reno, working in a community primary care setting and establishing brief interventions for underserved populations. I also supervised psychology graduate students from the University of Nevada, Reno Clinical Psychology Program and nurse practitioner students. I was an Adjunct Professor at UNR and Touro University for these roles.

I have subsequently been a Program Manager at the Sierra Nevada Department of Veterans Affairs and gained extensive experience with the assessment of Pain, Transplants evaluations and Adult ADHD.

I have had the opportunity to work very closely on interdisciplinary teams and with very high functioning professionals. This has given me the experience to translate recommendations to the people that need to understand them.

I am proud to bring this experience from my extensive training and work with children, families and adults to patients in Northern Nevada.
